One day, after endless paperwork, you finally make it into a German university.
Another day, you hear about this group called IK (Internationaler Kreis der SMD).
And one day, you find yourself grateful to have found a safe space and a community of friends in a place so different from everything you’ve ever known.
Then, one day, you become a volunteer and join the team.
And suddenly, there you are, giving the evening’s Bible input for the very first time…
I still remember how my legs were shaking, how inadequate and unprepared I felt, and how my heart was racing with the weight and excitement of being entrusted with something so meaningful. But that’s where it all began. What started with one-on-one conversations with a few friends who wanted to know more about Jesus and the Bible gradually grew into something bigger. Over time, my talks grew longer, the audiences grew larger, and I had the opportunity to explore an ever-wider range of topics. And years later, that same international student became a full-time staff member of SMD. Today, I have the joy and privilege of making something that once seemed so big and intimidating a regular part of my everyday life: sharing God’s heart and His love for the nations.
Looking back, I never could have imagined where those first trembling steps would lead me. And I’m so grateful I didn’t have to know the whole journey from the beginning. Sometimes, all it takes is saying yes to God, even when we’re afraid or feel unprepared. We don’t have to have it all figured out or be ready for everything He has in store. We simply need to make ourselves available to Him and trust that He will shape us, equip us, and work through us along the way.
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8
